About

SERVING THE DISTRICT

In his sixteen years of service, Commissioner Mackey has overseen countless resolutions to transform District 4. He proposed the restoration of Boynton Towers to provide affordable housing to its tenants. He has voted to invest millions into our public school system, including being instrumental in getting the Howard football stadium built, ands a vocal advocate for the placement of the Mary Ann Garber Vocational School in East Chattanooga.

ON THE ISSUES

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Commissioner Mackey has consistently supported economic development policies that strengthen the county’s foundation while expanding opportunity for working families. His approach recognizes that infrastructure, workforce readiness, and fiscal discipline are essential to sustainable growth.

While advocating for investment, Mackey has also demonstrated fiscal responsibility. His record includes instances of targeted scrutiny of budget amendments, underscoring his commitment to ensuring taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and for clear public benefit.

HOUSING

Commissioner Mackey understands that housing stability is deeply connected to public health, recovery services, and neighborhood quality of life. His record reflects a comprehensive approach to strengthening communities—not just through development, but through the systems that help families remain housed and supported.

Mackey has also advocated for responsible, forward-looking planning. In a key vote, he opposed delaying long-term regional planning efforts, emphasizing the importance of actionable strategies to guide land use, housing development, and growth in a way that balances affordability, sustainability, and community input.
