Holding Governmental Leaders Accountable

Every 10 years, Hamilton County, like every county in the country, goes through redistricting. The next date this happens will be on April 7, 2022. Redistricting is meant to redistribute districts based on population growth to ensure that each district is fairly represented and equal. In the state of Tennessee, there are no checks and balances in place that protect its citizens from unfair redistricting to favor one group or party over another, otherwise known as gerrymandering.

We have a problem in Hamilton County. Gerrymandering has blocked certain districts of Hamilton County from receiving access to resources, services and support for our communities. There are 9 county commissioners who protect, serve and support the needs of all of the residents of Hamilton County.

I want you to hold us accountable. I am encouraged by those who have stood up to give suggestions, feedback and support to make sure those who are marginalized receive what they need to thrive, not just survive.

Make sure that you are talking to all of us on the county commission. I want to see your vision for a fair and equitable Hamilton County where we all rise together.

I envision a county commission where all of it’s elected officials care about the needs of all of Hamilton County’s citizens, not just the voters in their respective districts.

WE are Hamilton County and WE can do better. I want to join hands with you to make a difference in the lives of those who have been historically underrepresented and underserved. I will continue to use my voice to speak up for you. I want you to use your voice. Speak up about fairness and equity.  We are teaching our children these valuable lessons and we need to live by them.

I want to hear from you. Share your thoughts and comments by using this contact form.
